Injectables Treatments

Dysport

Dysport is a popular botulinum toxin type A product, similar to Botox, used for both cosmetic and medical purposes. It is known for its natural-looking results and quick onset, making it a preferred choice for many patients seeking wrinkle reduction or muscle relaxation. Like Botox, Dysport temporarily relaxes targeted muscles by blocking nerve signals that cause muscle contractions. This smooths dynamic wrinkles (caused by repetitive facial expressions) and prevents the formation of new ones.

Key features:

  • Faster Onset: Dysport typically shows visible results within 2–3 dayscompared to Botox’s 3–7 days.
  • Broader Spread: Dysport diffuses more widely in the treated area, making it ideal for larger treatment areas (e.g., forehead).
  • Natural-Looking Results: Creates a softer, more natural appearance, especially for patients with expressive faces.

Cosmetic Uses:

  •  Wrinkle Reduction:

             ○ Forehead lines.

             ○ Frown lines (glabellar lines) between the eyebrows.

             ○ Crow’s feet (around the eyes).

  • Facial Contouring:

             ○ Jawline slimming (masseter muscle relaxation)

  • Neck Rejuvenation:

             ○ Reduces platysmal bands (vertical neck lines).

What to expect?

  • Consultation: Discuss patient goals, medical history, and suitability for Dysport.
  • Procedure:

             ○ Quick injections using fine needles, typically completed in 10–30 minutes.

             ○ Topical numbing cream is optional but not always necessary.

  • Aftercare: Avoid lying down, strenuous activity, or rubbing the treated area for 4–6 hours.
  • Onset and Duration:

             ○ Results are noticeable in 2–3 days.

             ○ Effects last 3–4 months, with some variability based on individual factors.

Side effects

  • Common Side Effects:

             ○ Redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site.

             ○ Temporary headache or mild drooping (rare and self-resolving).

  • Serious Risks (rare):

             ○ Allergic reactions or unintended spread of toxin effects.

Botox

Botox is a brand name for Botulinum Toxin type A, a purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is a widely used cosmetic and medical treatment that temporarily relaxes muscles by blocking nerve signals. This property makes Botox effective for both aesthetic enhancements and therapeutic applications. Botox is injected directly into specific muscles, ensuring precise effects.

Aesthetic Uses

Wrinkle Reduction:

  • Helps prevent the formation of new wrinkles.
  •  Smooths dynamic wrinkles, including:

              ○ Forehead lines.

              ○ Crow’s feet (around the eyes).

              ○ Frown lines (glabellar lines between the eyebrows).

Facial Contouring:

  • Slims the jawline by reducing the masseter muscles.
  • Lifts and reshapes the eyebrows (non-surgical brow lift).
  • Neck and Décolletage:
  • Reduces neck bands and creases (Nefertiti lift).

What to expect?

  • Duration: Quick treatment, usually 10–30 minutes.
  • Downtime: Minimal, with most patients resuming normal activities immediately.
  • Effectiveness:

              ○ Results appear within 3–7 days and peak around 2 weeks.

              ○ Effects typically last 3–6 months.

Side Effects:

  • Common Side effects:

              ○ Mild bruising, redness, or swelling at the injection site.

              ○ Temporary headache or slight drooping (rare and resolves within weeks)

  • Serious Risks (rare):

              ○ Allergic reactions or unintended muscle relaxation in adjacent areas.

Xeomin

Xeomin works by blocking nerve signals to targeted muscles, temporarily relaxing them to smooth wrinkles or treat medical conditions caused by overactive muscle activity. Xeomin contains only the active botulinum toxin molecule, with no additives or proteins. This may lower the chance of developing antibodies that reduce its effectiveness. Results are typically visible in 3–5 days and effects last about 3–4 months, similar to Botox and Dysport. Xeomin provides a subtle, refreshed appearance without a “frozen” look.

Cosmetic Uses

  •  Dynamic Wrinkles:

             ○ Frown lines (glabellar lines) between the eyebrows.

             ○ Forehead lines.

             ○ Crow’s feet (around the eyes).

  • Facial Contouring:

             ○ Jawline slimming by relaxing the masseter muscles.

  • Neck Rejuvenation:

             ○ Reduces platysmal bands (vertical neck lines).

What to expect?

  • Consultation: Discuss patient goals, medical history, and suitability for Xeomin.
  • Procedure:

             ○ Injections are administered with a fine needle, typically taking 10–20 minutes.

             ○ Topical numbing cream is optional but usually not needed.

  • Aftercare: Avoid lying down, massaging the area, or engaging in strenuous activities for 4–6 hours.
  • Results:

             ○ Noticeable improvement in 3–5 days, with full effects seen at 2 weeks.

             ○ Effects last 3–4 months.

Common Side Effects:
